NCDOT: Deadline Ahead for NCDOT Model Bridge Building Competition
Students participate in the N.C. Department of Transportation's Model Bridge Building Competition.
RALEIGH – The deadline to submit entries for the N.C. Department of Transportation’s 2023 Model Bridge Building Competition is approaching.
Open to middle and high school students, the statewide competition encourages students to develop the math and science skills needed and used in transportation, construction, and engineering careers.
Working in teams, students present their model bridges to a panel of judges and are scored based on a written report, oral presentation, a design drawing, and the bridge’s structural efficiency.
The deadline for documents and registration is March 3, with regional competitions to be held at four locations across the state on March 17. The statewide round of the competition is set for April 28.
Participants are to bring their model bridges with them to the regional competition sites.
NCDOT accepts one model bridge entry per school.
