Obituary - Janet Johnson

Janet Johnson, 75, of Kinston, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 23rd, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023, at 11am at Pinelawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Merritt Watson and Dr. David Griffin officiating.

Janet was born in the Woodington area of Lenoir County on December 1st, 1947. She was a 1966 graduate of South Lenoir High School and furthered her education at Mount Olive College and Lenoir Community College. She worked at the Lenoir County Clerk of Courts Office as a Deputy Clerk and retired after thirty years of service. Janet was a member of Southwood Memorial Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess and Church Historian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Louise Rouse; brothers, Jerry and Greg Rouse; and brother-in-law, Bill Wood.

She is survived by Wallace Johnson, her husband of 52 years; son, Bryan Johnson and wife Courtney; sister, Gwen Humphrey and husband Ralph; brother-in-law, Jimmy Johnson; sisters-in-law, Rita Wood, Ethel Johnson, Eleanor Rouse, and Tammy Rouse; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three very special grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Becton, Molly, and Whit Johnson. 

 The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, the American Lung Association, or the American Cancer Society.
