KPD: Police chase ends with two arrests
On March 8th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department were conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the area of Vernon Ave. Kinston, N.C. when officers noticed a black in color Nissan being operated with a fictitious registration and illegal window tint.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop, forcing a vehicle pursuit. During the vehicle pursuit, the occupants attempted to evade officers by traveling down a dirt path on Old Asphalt Road towards O.K. Street in the old Rivermont Community where they struck a tree and ran on foot. Both occupants were captured within seconds and arrested without further incident. No one was injured in the vehicle pursuit. The suspects have been identified as James Hill, 48, and Caleb Sexton, 28, both of Kinston.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with the following crimes:
James Hill
• Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
• Resisting Public Officer
• Order for Arrest – Felony Probation Violation (4 Counts)
• Order for Arrest – Defraud Drug/Alcohol Test
• Order for Arrest – Obtain Property by False Pretense
Caleb Sexton
• Felony Flee to Elude Arrest
• Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
• Resisting Public Officer
• Numerous Traffic Offenses
• Order for Arrest – Felony Probation Violation
