LCSO: Man arrested for stealing vases, brass markers from graveyards
A Seven Springs man was arrested today for allegedly stealing vases and brass markers from two area graveyards.
Jacob Roman Honeycutt, 38, was arrested by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office investigators for stealing those items from Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill and Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
On April 14, LCSO investigators located stolen brass grave markers and vases at a local salvage yard. The investigators contacted the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office about recent thefts from Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill; with assistance from DCSO investigators, LCSO detectives were able to confirm the grave markers and vases were from Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
Additionally, the LCSO has received reports of similar thefts from Pinelawn. The LCSO investigators were able to tie the same suspect — Honeycutt — to thefts of grave markers and grave vases at Pinelawn.
Today, the LCSO arrested Honeycutt and charged him with two counts of felony larceny and seven counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.
Honeycutt was also served DCSO warrants for:
• Felony breaking and/or entering
• Felony larceny after breaking and/or entering
• Felony disturb casket/grave marker
Honeycutt is currently in Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
