KPD Responds to gunfire, apprehends felon with concealed weapon

KPD Officers responded to the area of shots fired in the areas of the 200 block of E Vernon Avenue and the 600 block of Cooks Ally. A witness provided officers with an offender description and a vehicle description. As officers arrived in the area, the observed the described offender and the vehicle fleeing the area. Officers attempted to initiate a vehicle stop when the suspected offender crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and McLewean Street. The driver, Jimmy Blount, was taken into custody without further incident. Officers conducted a search and located a canceled handgun. Mr. Blount was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond for the following charges:

- Possession of a firearm by felon

- Discharging a firearm within the city

- Carry Concealed gun
