Obituary - Jesse Vernon Braswell

Jesse Vernon Braswell, 92, of Grifton, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at ECU Health. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Nettie “Florence” Braswell.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed. Jesse worked at Dupont. He loved gardening, working with his hands and loved his church family at Hugo Original Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Huff (Gerard) of Wilson; sons, Vernon Lamar Braswell (Vicki) of Kinston and Ivan Braswell (Penny) of Grifton; grandchildren, Emily Hooker (Sean), Sarah Huff, Alice Huff, April Lee (Daniel), Jordan Braswell (Kia), Daniel Hill (Kaitlyn), and Andrew Braswell; great-grandchildren, Kai Hooker, Gideon Hooker, Luke Hill, Gabriel Hill, Kayleigh Hill, Natalie Hill, Danny Hill, and Reid Lee and many other close family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Howard Carter Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 10:00 am at Princeton Cemetery with Pastor Stanley Buck, Dr. Charles Russell and Reverend Larry Carter officiating.
