Greene County Deputies arrest man fleeing from traffic stop

Greene County Sheriff’s Department posted the following on their Facebook page:

Greene County Deputies arrested 33 year old Larry Atkinson Jr of Maury Sunday night after fleeing from a traffic stop.

On 08/20/2023 around 9:25 pm, a Greene County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Atkinson's vehicle in Snow Hill for failing to maintain lane control. During the stop the Deputy asked Atkinson to step out of the vehicle after obtaining probable cause for a further search, Atkinson failed to comply and lead Deputies on a vehicle chase, which went through the Four Way/Ormondsville area and into Lenoir County, before ending in Maury. During the chase Atkinson struck two patrol vehicles, causing minor damage. Upon Atkinson stopping in Maury he fled from his vehicle on foot, but was taken into custody with no incident. Atkinson was charged with felony flee to elude arrest, AWDW on government official, reckless driving to endanger, resisting a public officer, fail to maintain lane control, and exceeding a safe speed. Atkinson is currently out on a $75,000 secured bond
