Obituary: Carol Morris Wells
Mrs. Carol Morris Wells, age 79, passed away Sunday evening, September 24th, 2023, at Lenoir UNC Health Care in Kinston. A native of Lenoir County, she was born June 29, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Lydie Marshburn Wells.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Lenoir County and had retired from Field Controls. A consummate homemaker, Carol was a talented cook and enjoyed every opportunity to be with her family, both immediate and extended. She possessed a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She often enjoyed listening to music in lieu of watching television, especially any recordings of Elvis and her all-time favorite song, “Coal Miner’s Daughter” by Loretta Lynn.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Ray “Bobby” Wells; a granddaughter, Brittany Wells; great-grandchild, Mackenzie Pate; and siblings, Julia Holloway, Gracie Ham, Earline Waters, Irene Joyner, Carl Morris, and Jimmy Morris.
Her surviving family includes her sons, Rocky Wells of Kinston and Brent Wells and wife, Shelley of Newport; grandchildren, Brandon Wells and wife, Brandi of Newport, Brad Lassiter of Dallas, TX, Bethany Wells, Millie Wells, Ivy Wells and Konner Wells, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held graveside 2 PM Thursday, September 28th, at the Maury Cemetery with Pastor Allen Ham officiating. The family will receive friends and extended family at the cemetery immediately following the service.
