Lenoir County Board of Education moves forward with sale of Teachers Memorial School
The Lenoir County Board of Education has finalized the decision to sell the former Teachers Memorial School, located at 500 Marcella Drive in Kinston. After a competitive upset bid process, the board accepted a final offer of $319,000 for the property. The sale is now set to proceed, marking a significant step in the repurposing of this historic educational facility.
Nick Harvey, the Assistant Superintendent, expressed gratitude and optimism following the conclusion of the bidding. "After many weeks of bidding, we certainly would like to thank all that were interested in the facility," Harvey said. "We hope that the new owner will create something that will benefit the community for many years to come."
Initially offered "as is" under a special warranty deed, the property attracted significant interest. The board's decision to sell Teachers Memorial School through an upset bid process was driven by a desire to find a buyer with innovative ideas for the building's future use. The hope is that the new owner will transform the space in a way that serves and benefits the Kinston community for years to come.
