Welcome back, I hope you are off to a great start this year! This past week marked the beginning of the second session of the 118th Congress. I am overwhelmingly thankful to continue to represent the Third District of beautiful Eastern North Carolina in Washington.
Working in a slim majority presents significant challenges. Right now, I am working diligently with my colleagues to carve a path forward to fund our government as we approach the January 19th and February 2nd deadlines. I have faith in Speaker Mike Johnson's ability and intentions to lead our conference in the right direction and deliver commonsense, conservative wins for our country.

Upcoming 3rd Veterans History Project Event
ICYMI: I will be hosting my third Veterans History Project, in partnership with the Craven County Veterans Office, at the Riverfront Convention Center of Craven County on February 21st. The past events have been extremely successful, and I look forward to hosting this project throughout NC-03.
This event celebrates and honors our troops by inviting them to share their stories and have them archived in the Library of Congress.
If you are a veteran or know someone who is, I encourage you to participate in this wonderful event. It is a fantastic way to honor those in our community who selflessly sacrificed so much for our freedom and security.
President Biden’s EV Scam Explained
The Inflation Reduction Act created $1.2 trillion in taxpayer-funded credits that are filling China’s coffers while doing nothing for ordinary Americans.
According to data from the Model for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas-Induced Climate Change (MAGICC), if the U.S. banned all fossil fuel consumption and went entirely “net-zero” by 2050, the effect on global temperatures by 2100 would be a negligible decrease of 0.08 degrees Celsius.
I support advancing toward a green future and leaving our children a world to enjoy and cherish, but we must preserve a sustainable economy, maintain strong national security, and reduce our immense national debt.

Fighting for Rural Access to VA Health Care
Despite the $300+ million in funding the Veterans Health Administration's Office of Rural Health Efforts receives to ensure our veterans are taken care of, it continues to fall short and let folks down.
This is unacceptable, and I will not stop fighting for accountability. I hear from veterans in Eastern North Carolina nearly every day who are impacted by limited access to VA facilities.
I am disappointed with the VA's lack of attention toward communities in desperate need. It is essential that we address the needs of all veterans, regardless of where they live, in a timely and effective manner. I’m proud of the work the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee is doing to hold the VA accountable. NC-03 is home to 76,000 veterans, and I am committed, as their representative, to stand up for their dignity.
Prioritizing American Businesses Over China
Thanks to President Biden's extreme climate agenda, American taxpayer dollars are being used to bolster Beijing’s influence and control over American energy and infrastructure.
Last year, the Federal Highway Administration suspended provisions of “Buy America” which instructed federal infrastructure projects to use 55% of materials from domestic sources and be completely manufactured in the U.S.
This Administration must prioritize American businesses and infrastructure independence, not foreign markets of hostile nations.
I voted YES on S.J. Res 38 which prevents the Biden Administration from pouring billions in taxpayer dollars into his disastrous EV policies and decreases our reliance on China.
Protecting American Franchises
The American franchise model, which supports millions of workers and promotes economic growth, is under attack by the Biden Administration.
In October of 2023, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) announced a final rule to make companies jointly liable with their franchisees for workplace policies. Top-down regulation that forces the corporate boardroom into the management of small businesses is a slap in the face to franchisees and entrepreneurs across the country who deserve to run their businesses as they see fit.
The Biden Administration is prioritizing special interests over small business and American workers, and I won’t stand for it. I proudly voted YES on H.J. Res. 98 to repeal the NLRB's predatory regulation.
Stop Settlement Slush Funds Act of 2023
The DOJ allows defendants to donate to charity instead of serving time or paying fines. However, often this money is funneled to partisan, activist non-profits aligned with the Biden Administration.
American taxpayers and victims should be the beneficiaries of settlements. However, the Biden Administration has abused the DOJ’s settlement process to line the pockets of allied outside groups. This practice was banned under former President Trump, and it’s time for Congress to step in and do it again.
I voted YES to the Stop Settlement Slush Funds Act to crack down on this blatant corruption.
