LCSO update: Inmate identified in jail death

UPDATE:
The inmate that passed away in the Lenoir County Jail on Saturday is Stephanie Osowski, 40, of Millsboro, Delaware. Osowski had been an inmate in the jail since June 2023 and was being held for multiple drug-related offenses, including trafficking in opium/heroin.

An autopsy was performed by the Office of the State Medical Examiner on Sunday. Results from that examination are pending. The State Bureau of Investigation is conducting the death investigation.   

At approximately 7:15 a.m. today, a female inmate at the Lenoir County Detention Center passed away. The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is withholding her name at this time to contact family members. Family members with a female inmate at the jail may call 252-527-0243 to check the status of their loved one.

The State Bureau of Investigation is on site to investigate the event.
