North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) held steering committees
Wake County, N.C. – On January 19, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) held steering committees in Wake County to assist the Board of Directors in setting policy for the Association in the areas of Agriculture, Environment, and General Government.
Welcome remarks and introductions were provided by Environment Committee Chair and Ashe County Commissioner Todd McNeill. Additionally, attendees heard a panel discussion on agriculture’s impact as an economic driver in North Carolina from panelists: North Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, Washington County Commissioner Ann Keyes, and Sampson County Commissioner Jerol Kivett.
"As a member of the NCACC's Agriculture, Environment, and General Government Joint Steering Committee, I recognize the critical role these issues play in the lives of North Carolinians across our state,” said Derreck Burress, Greene County Commissioner. “Developing thoughtful policies that support our agricultural community, protect our environment, and promote effective local governance remains a top priority. I appreciate the opportunity these steering committee meetings provide to collaborate with fellow county commissioners as we identify shared goals and chart a course for even greater progress. My service on this committee allows me to bring valuable perspective from Greene County as we work together to shape policy decisions that will benefit all of North Carolina."
Each year, the NCACC president appoints a chairperson to lead and represent each steering committee on the Board of Directors. The chair of each steering committee plays an important role in leading committee meetings and identifying specific topics for discussion within the committee’s jurisdiction.
