North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region Holds Successful 2024 Regional Forklift Rodeo at Wayne Community College

GOLDSBORO, NC - The 2024 North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region Forklift Rodeo, held on Tuesday, October 15th, at Wayne Community College, was a resounding success. The event brought in forklift drivers from industries throughout the region, including Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties, to compete for the title of the best forklift driver in the region.

The competition was fierce, with drivers from each county participating in bracketed competitions representing industries within their respective counties. The winners from each county bracket then faced off in a thrilling 3-team double-elimination championship to determine the grand champion forklift driver in the region.

The course presented a challenging mix of speed, safety, and skill, with drivers vying for the best time while navigating obstacles. Penalties were incurred for hitting cones and bouncing water balloons off the top of a transported trash can, adding excitement to the competition. Points were also deducted for spilling water from a 5-gallon bucket while maneuvering through a slalom course.

 Winners were….

  • Regional Grand Champion – Trey Price of Southern Vinyl

  • Wayne County Overall Winner – Jaimen Velasquez of Mount Olive Pickle Company

  • Lenoir County Overall Winner – Trey Price of Southern Vinyl

Congratulations to the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region Forklift Rodeo winners! The drivers' skills were exceptional, and the cheering coworkers showed the commitment of the EDR region's workforce. A big thank you to all the industries that participated in this event!
