Lenoir County Commissioner Eric Rouse will be flying his private plane from Kinston to Asheville Wednesday morning with essential supplies as part of the Operation Airdrop-Hurricane Helene relief effort.

Rouse, the District 2 representative and vice chair of the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners, is flying out from the Global TransPark Wednesday morning with a load of supplies to help those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

“Helping others and giving to those in their time of need has never cost me a thing,” Rouse said. “Being a lifelong lover and advocate of flying helps me combine my passions into one. It’s the least we can do to help those in Western North Carolina who have also helped us in Eastern North Carolina through difficult times.”

Rouse will pilot his plane from Kinston to Asheville Wednesday morning for the one-hour flight. He is packing his plane at 10 a.m. and will be in the air by 10:30.

Operation Airdrop is using private pilots all over the Southeastern United States to mobilize and provide critical assistance in response to Hurricane Helene. Its mission focuses on delivering essential supplies, hot meals and support to communities affected by the storm.
