Obituary: Margaret Elkins

Margaret Elkins, 94, of Kinston passed away Monday, October 28, 2024.

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1pm at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Margaret was born in Lenoir County on December 22, 1929, to Clayton and Lillie Wiley Tyndall. A devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church throughout her life, Margaret exemplified the values of community and service. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

Margaret was employed with Frosty Morn for nearly three decades, until its closing. She then went on to work at Hampton Industries, and she remained there until retiring after 32 years.

Family was the cornerstone of Margaret’s life. She cherished her loved ones and was known for her kindness, warmth, and laughter. She had many hobbies and especially enjoyed going to play Bingo.

Margaret and her husband would spend time at Vernon Park Mall where they cherished the friendships they made there. Sometimes Margaret would sneak away by herself to do a little shopping at Belk and Hamrick’s.

Margaret was known for her green thumb. She loved flowers and would spend countless hours tending to her flower beds. Other than being with her family, tending to her flowers made her most happy.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Judy King and husband Don; grandchildren, Tim King and wife Rebecca, Angie and husband Ashley; her great-grandchild, Ayden.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Spring Arbor of Kinston for their attentiveness and care over the past seven years and to Gentiva Hospice for their guidance and care during these last two weeks.

Arrangements made by Edwards Funeral Home & Cremations. Online condolences may be expressed at www.edwardsfhc.com.
