Raleigh man arrested in Lenoir County on drug trafficking charges

A traffic stop on Wheat Swamp Road in northern Lenoir County resulted in the arrest of a Raleigh man on more than a dozen charges.

On Sunday, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office B-shift deputies conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle that didn’t have a license plate. The rider of the motorcycle, Jayson Nathanial Dupree Winner, 23, was discovered to be on probation for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of controlled substances.

A check of the motorcycle’s vehicle identification number revealed it had been stolen from an owner in Leland. During the LCSO investigation, deputies discovered Winner had approximately 61 grams of methamphetamine, along with other substances classified under Schedule I, II, IV and VI.

Winner was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

·      Felony possession of stolen motor vehicle

·      Felony trafficking in methamphetamine by possessing

·      Felony trafficking in methamphetamine by transporting

·      Felony maintaining vehicle for Schedule I controlled substances

·      Felony maintaining vehicle for Schedule II controlled substances

·      Felony maintaining vehicle for Schedule VI controlled substances

·      Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver (PWIMSD) Schedule I controlled substances

·      Felony PWIMSD Schedule II controlled substances

·      Felony PWIMSD Schedule VI controlled substances

·      Misdemeanor simple possession of Schedule IV controlled substances

·      Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

·      Misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia

·      No operator’s license

·      No insurance

·      Fail to register vehicle with DMV

Winner is currently in custody at the Lenoir County Jail under a $350,000 secured bond and awaiting further legal proceedings.
