Leapfrog Group Awards UNC Health Lenoir “B”
The Leapfrog Fall Hospital Safety grades have been released and UNC Health Lenoir has earned a “B” based on data from 2021 to 2024. The Leapfrog Group rates healthcare organizations based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections, and injuries that have the potential to harm patients. “Our team works tirelessly on improving all the components of the score and our efforts have been realized,” stated Dr. Claire Paris, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at UNC Health Lenoir.
Patient Experience scores are reflected in hospital performance, and UNC Health Lenoir continues to strive to provide safe, quality care to patients along with excellent service. Metrics that contribute to the “B” score include:
Continued work on patient safety with an enhanced program to prevent falls with injuries.
A robust infection control program continues to work on preventing infections. UNC Health Lenoir has seen a significant decrease in hospital acquired infections in 2023 and this is reflected in the current score.
Tele-ICU staffing continues to increase scoring as well as bringing a great service to our patients. The addition of Dr. Doug Schiller, Critical Care Intensivist supports the quality work seen in the Critical Care Unit.
“The mission of UNC Health Lenoir is to ensure exceptional healthcare for the people we serve. We will continue our efforts to sustain safe, high-quality healthcare. I am proud of the efforts our team puts forth each day to support the care provided to our community, “said Crystal Hayden, President and CEO, UNC Health Lenoir.
