Unofficial 2024 North Carolina General Election Council of State Results

Preliminary results from the North Carolina 2024 General Election show a strong voter turnout, with 67.01% of registered voters casting ballots. As of 11:42 p.m. on election night, 92.36% of precincts (2,455 out of 2,658) have reported results, reflecting over 5.2 million votes.

In a decisive victory for the state’s top office, Democratic candidate Josh Stein leads the gubernatorial race with 55.14% of the vote (2,802,971 ballots), while Republican candidate Mark Robinson has secured 39.86% (2,026,104 ballots). Libertarian Mike Ross and Constitution Party candidate Vinny Smith received 3.15% and 0.98%, respectively, with Green Party candidate Wayne Turner at 0.87%.

“Thank you, North Carolina! I am honored to serve as your next governor. Tonight, we came together to resoundingly embrace a vision that is optimistic, forward-looking, and welcoming. I couldn't have done this without each of you,” said Stein on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The lieutenant governor race remains close, with Democrat Rachel Hunt leading at 49.72% (2,527,085 votes) over Republican Hal Weatherman's 47.48% (2,413,248 votes). Libertarian Shannon W. Bray received 1.85%, and Wayne Jones of the Constitution Party garnered 0.95%.

For attorney general, Democrat Jeff Jackson holds a narrow lead with 51.65% (2,625,157 ballots) against Republican Dan Bishop’s 48.35% (2,457,255 ballots).

Other Key Races:

  • State Auditor: Republican Dave Boliek leads with 49.18%, closely followed by Democrat Jessica Holmes with 47.79%. Libertarian Bob Drach has 3.03%.

  • Commissioner of Agriculture: Incumbent Republican Steve Troxler has a substantial lead with 52.43%, while Democrat Sarah Taber trails with 45.14%. Libertarian Sean Haugh has 2.43%.

  • Commissioner of Insurance: Republican Mike Causey holds 51.94% against Democrat Natasha Marcus, who has 48.06%.

  • Commissioner of Labor: Republican Luke Farley leads with 52.59%, while Democrat Braxton Winston II trails at 47.41%.

  • Secretary of State: Democrat Elaine Marshall holds 51.20% of the vote, while Republican Chad Brown has 48.80%.

  • Superintendent of Public Instruction: Democrat Maurice (Mo) Green leads with 51.31%, with Republican Michele Morrow at 48.69%.

  • State Treasurer: Republican Brad Briner is leading with 52.29%, while Democrat Wesley Harris trails at 47.71%.

These results remain unofficial as final tallies continue. Full, certified results are expected after all counties report their complete counts and any provisional or absentee ballots are verified and included.
