How Far I'll Go……
Letter to the editor
My name is Madison Johnson, and I am a Lenoir Community Early College high school sophomore. I would like to take a moment to talk about LCECHS. Growing up, I hated school and everything about it. I hated learning and waking up at 7:30 and how I couldn't understand what others could; having ADHD makes learning a lot harder. I needed more help, a slowed-down pace, and smaller class sizes. These are things that traditional schools didn't have.
I wanted to be successful like everyone else, but it took more work. Coming into middle school, I worked so hard because I was determined to go to Lenoir Community Early College. LCECHS is a game-changer for students like me who struggle with ADHD. As a student who has always found it hard to stay focused and keep up with the fast pace of a regular classroom, LCECHS has been a place where I finally feel understood and supported. But it's not just about the academic help—it’s about how LCECHS makes me think.
For the first time, I don’t feel like I’m falling behind or something is wrong with me. The teachers are patient, and they believe in us. They know we can be successful but understand that we need the right environment. I’ve learned how to stay organized, manage my time better, and, most importantly, how to believe in myself.
