Obituary: Katie Carol Westbrook Rayner

Katie Carol Westbrook Rayner, age 72, of Kinston, went to be with Jesus on December 12, 2024. Born on February 19, 1952, in Newport News, Virginia, Katie was a loving spouse, mother and nana. Katie was baptized in January of 2023, and valued her relationship with the Lord very much.

Katie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Warren Rayner, her sons, Chris and wife Devan, Cory and wife Melissa. Her true light in life was her four grandchildren, Braxton (14), Hayes (10), Avery (2) and Olivia (1). She is also survived by her brothers, Randy Westbrook (Debra) and Danny Westbrook (Mary) along with her sister-in-law, Jamie Rayner and family. In addition, she is survived by many special family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Margaret Westbrook and other loving family members.

Katie was a lifetime lover of sunbathing on the beach, holiday decorating and crafting. When she wasn’t listening to beach music by The Embers, you could find her enjoying the smooth sound of Elvis Presley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on December 21, at 11:00am with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00am.
