KPD: Weekly Recap of Notable Incidents and Arrests
December 21, 2024
• 2:21 PM: Officers from A-Squad observed Wallace Taylor (61, Kinston) on the 300 block of S. Queen Street. Officers were aware that Taylor had active warrants for 2nd Degree Trespass. After making contact with him, Taylor was arrested on the warrant. During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. In addition to the warrant, Taylor was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail without bond due to being on pretrial release.
• 5:04 PM: A-Squad officers received information regarding a stolen U-Haul truck. Officers located the vehicle on Queen Street and Blount Street and confirmed it was reported stolen from Raleigh. The driver, Quoshawn Brown (30, Raleigh), was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
December 23, 2024
• 7:59 PM: Officers from D-Squad stopped a vehicle driven by David Carmon (64, Lagrange) on Greenmead Drive for a registration violation. During the stop, officers suspected impairment and conducted a DWI investigation, which led to Carmon’s arrest for DWI. He was released on an unsecured bond.
• 2:29 AM: D-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop on Rochelle Boulevard for a stop sign violation. During the stop, Brandon Simmons (38, Lenoir County) was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Simmons was arrested and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
December 28, 2024
• 11:45 AM: B-Squad officers conducted a license checkpoint on Independence Street. As Adrian Moore (26, Lenoir County) approached, officers observed suspicious movements inside his vehicle. After a safety frisk, a concealed firearm was discovered. Moore was cited for driving with a revoked license and carrying a concealed weapon, then released at the scene.
• 8:43 PM: Officers from D-Squad responded to an armed robbery report on the 600 block of Stratford Boulevard. The victims, both juveniles, reported being robbed at gunpoint by two 17-year-old juvenile suspects. This case remains under investigation.
• 9:38 PM: D-Squad officers stopped Donald Edwards (61, Kinston) on Adkin Street for multiple safe movement violations. Officers observed open containers in the vehicle and initiated a DWI investigation. Edwards was arrested for DWI and resisting a public officer. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
December 30, 2024
• 1:51 AM: Officers from D-Squad conducted a traffic stop on DR MLK Jr. Boulevard for speeding. After making contact with the driver, Tyrik Thomas (50, Kinston), officers suspected impairment. A DWI investigation confirmed Thomas was impaired, leading to his arrest for DWI. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
