LCSO: Richlands man arrested for shooting Lenoir County woman

A Richlands man has been arrested for shooting a Lenoir County woman in the leg earlier this week.

A few minutes before 11 a.m. on Sunday, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Gilbert School Road residence for a report of a gunshot wound. When they arrived at the residence, they found Victoria Haynes, 30, with a gunshot wound to the right leg. She was transported to the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, where she was treated and released.

LCSO General Investigative Division detectives began an investigation with the victim and witnesses. During the investigation, it was discovered the shooter was Ashton Oneal, 30, of Richlands. A warrant for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury was obtained for Oneal. On Wednesday, Oneal was arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and secured in the Onslow County Jail.
