Two arrested in Lenoir County break-In thanks to community help

Thanks to assistance from residents of Lenoir County, two people have been arrested for the April 20 breaking and entering of Hugo Auto Sales.

Nyshiem Benghazi Cantey, 25, of Grifton and a 14-year-old juvenile male were charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and felony conspiracy earlier today. Cantey turned himself in and was given a secured bond; the juvenile will be processed through the Juvenile Services System with the same charges.

On April 20, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Hugo Auto Sales, 2583 Cameron Langston Rd., Grifton, for a breaking and entering that had occurred at the business. Deputies collected video evidence and the case was forwarded to the LCSO’s Detective Division. The LCSO shared the evidence and clipped photos on Facebook and in media outlets; thanks to users of those social media sites, the two suspects were identified.

After the suspects were identified, detectives conducted interviews with them all the stolen property was located and returned to Hugo Auto Sales, except for two items.

“We truly appreciate the residents of Lenoir County who quickly identified the suspects and helped us get the stolen property back to the business,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “Working together, we can make Lenoir County a safer place to live.”
