Lenoir County enforcement targeting high crime and drug areas

A Deep Run man was arrested in Pink Hill Thursday for trafficking methamphetamine.

Jamil Blount, 42, was charged with Level 3 trafficking Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crime and Rapid Response) unit and the LCSO’s narcotics division.

The agencies were conducting a proactive enforcement operation targeting high crime and drug areas of Lenoir County. Blount was arrested in the South Front Street and Hunter Street area in Pink Hill.

During the search of the vehicle Blount was in, more than 400 grams of a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine was discovered. He was booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a secured bond.

In a continued effort to “Restore Lenoir,” a total of 26 traffic stops were conducted in the high crime areas.

“Thank you to the residents of Lenoir County for your continued support in our efforts,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “You are helping make a difference in our home.”
