Kinston Police respond to shots fired

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on the 500 block of N. Herritage Street. According to witnesses, a subject from a vehicle shot out the window toward someone running away from the area. Officers located one (1) spent bullet casing but did not locate a victim or a suspect. Officers are currently investigating the incident. 

The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating crimes of violence perpetrated in our city. We will investigate such cases with no compromise for crime, and continue to seek assistance from the community we proudly serve. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
