Political strategist Hal Weatherman won the Republican runoff for North Carolina lieutenant governor, defeating Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill with 74% of the vote. Dave Boliek secured the primary win for State Auditor.

Weatherman will face Democrat Rachel Hunt in November to replace current Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson. Weatherman, endorsed by Robinson, aims to advocate for school choice and blue-collar workers, while Hunt focuses on public school investment and healthcare access.

This position, while lacking executive power, provides significant visibility and influence in state politics. Both candidates have contrasting visions, with Hunt labeling Weatherman as an extremist.
