Kinston man arrested for identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense

A Kinston man was arrested by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies Thursday afternoon on charges of identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense.

LCSO deputies responded to a call at Foss Auto Salvage, 7135 Hwy 70. W., Thursday shortly after 1:30 p.m. During their investigation, they discovered and obtained evidence that led to the felony on-view arrest of Jason Eugene Smith, 41.

Smith was arrested and transported to the Lenoir County Detention Center, where he was charged with obtaining property by false pretense and identity theft. He was given a secured bond.
