Lenoir County man arrested for sexual assault of juvenile
A Deep Run man was arrested Wednesday on child sex charges after a months-long investigation by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir County Department of Social Services.
An investigation into sexual assault claims against Richard Lee Sparrow, 38, started Jan. 15 when LCSO deputies and detectives responded to complaints filed at the Lenoir County Magistrate’s Office. During the investigation, it was reported Sparrow had been sexually molesting and assaulting a juvenile.
On Wednesday, Sparrow was arrested and charged with:
• Indecent liberties with a child
• Statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15
• Statutory rape of a child under the age of 15
• Felony incest
Sparrow was taken to the Lenoir County Detention Center where he is being held under a secured bond.
