Jacksonville man arrested after returning to scene of crime

A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday night by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies after returning to the scene of where he broke into the day before.

Dakota Babin, 27, was arrested at the Blue Hornet Country Store, 6409 Hwy. 258 South, after Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office B-Shift deputies received a call he was back on the premises. Babin, who has multiple outstanding warrants in Onslow County, was a suspect in a break-in at the same store on Thursday. LCSO deputies had investigated that break-in earlier Friday before Babin returned later that evening.

Babin was charged with felony attempted breaking and/or entering into a building for Thursday’s incident. He was given a $65,000 secured bond ($62,500 for the break-in and $2,500 for other charges) and placed into the Lenoir County Detention Center.
