Badcock Home Furniture & more in Kinston to close amid company-wide downsizing

Badcock Home Furniture & More announced the closure of its Kinston store as part of a broader plan to shutter 35 locations nationwide. This move comes after Conn’s HomePlus, which acquired Badcock in December 2023, decided to close 71 of its own showrooms. The Kinston store is among the seven Badcock locations in North Carolina affected by the downsizing.

The closures are part of a strategic realignment following reports that the combined retail entity, encompassing 553 showrooms at the end of 2023, may face Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The closure of 106 stores represents approximately 19% of the group's total locations. The Kinston store’s closing date has yet to be announced.
