Obituary - Elizabeth Mills Reynolds
Elizabeth Mills Reynolds, affectionately known as Libby, age 97, of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2024. Libby was born on March 25, 1927 to Alonza and Nina Turner Mills. Libby lived a long and amazing life and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Libby graduated from Comfort School, and in 1947 Libby married the love of her life, Preston Reynolds in Dillon, South Carolina. Libby was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Libby enjoyed tending to her garden, putting up vegetables, cooking, and above all spending time with her family.
Libby is survived by her three children Douglas Reynolds and wife Susan of Winterville, Robert Reynolds of Pleasant Hill, and Kathy Mathews and husband Clint of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren Kristen Keene, Sarah Reynolds and partner Heather Gibson, Jade Butler, Melanie Shaver and husband Eric, Eric Reynolds and wife Cait; five step grandchildren Jennifer Somerville and husband Mark, Kendall Hemby, Kaia Bailey, Melinda Mathews, Liz Palmer and husband Eric; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorothy Mills, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Libby is preceded in death by her loving husband Preston D. Reynolds; parents Alonza and Nina Mills; father and mother in-law Lemuel and Mary Reynolds; daughter-in-law Gail Reynolds; grandchildren Justin Reynolds and Brandy Reynolds; step grandson Trey Mathews; grandson-in-law Jason Butler; brothers Alonza Jay Mills and William Mills; sisters Betty Woertz, Mildred Pike, Estelle Ervin, and Gladys Smith; brothers-in-law Vick Woertz, Garland Pike, Vernon Reynolds, and Elbert Ervin; sisters-in-law Beatrice Hardie, Jane Mills, and Peggy Reynolds; and a special friend and caretaker Gwyne Jarman.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone that provided such compassionate care over the past few years, and especially Kathy Jones. A special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, especially Nan Kennedy and Heather Houston. All of you made it possible to keep our sweet Mama and Grandmama in her home the last few years of her life and we will be eternally grateful.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 Howard-Carter Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Pink Hill, NC with burial following.
