Obituary: Patricia Lynn Civils Buck
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the sudden death of Patricia Lynn Civils Buck after a short but severe illness. She was a wonderful daughter and sister, but her true joy came from being a mother and Nana to her precious girls. She fought a valiant battle until she was welcomed by her heavenly Father to her eternal home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at ECU Health in Greenville.
Patricia, age 60, lived in Grifton, NC, with her mother, Alice Tripp. She graduated from North Lenoir High School and remained in Lenoir County most of her life. She was the manager at Family Dollar in Pink Hill for years. Patricia was greatly loved and supported by the Pink Hill Community. Known for not being ashamed of expressing her feelings and opinions, she was also known for being gracious in giving and loyal to a fault. She leaves behind a legacy of being fiercely independent as well as being one who exhibited strength, kindness, and hard work. She was an avid reader who loved to travel whenever possible.
Besides her mother, Patricia is survived by her daughters, Aimee Doe (Patrick) of San Diego, CA, and Susan McLawhorn (George) of Moss Hill. The loves of her life are her granddaughters, Addison and Zelda Doe, and her newest granddaughter, Savannah McLawhorn. Patricia also has a son, Chris Civils (Jessica) of Pink Hill and three precious grandchildren, Brylie, Mason and Eliza Civils.
Other survivors include three sisters - Diana Godwin Hales (Brad) of Clinton, NC, and Debbie Wise and Stacie Brown ((Jonathan), both from Kinston. She has one brother, Bobby Tripp (Jean) of Ayden, NC. Patricia was always surrounded by one of her many special nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Her stepmother, Margaret Civils, lives in Pink Hill.
Patricia is deceased by her father, Donald Carol Civils, Sr.; stepfather, Maurice Tripp; and two brothers, Donald Carol Civils, Jr. and Allen Tripp.
Visitation for Patricia will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Garner Funeral Home in Kinston. A celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU team at UNC Health Lenoir and especially to the health care workers in CICU at ECU Health. Their support and compassion, especially their remarkable fight for her, will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the “Donald Civils Memorial Scholarship #609” with the Lenoir Community College Foundation, P O Box 188, Kinston, NC 28502.
