Obituary: Judith Audrey Lamm Finch

Judith Audrey Lamm Finch, 87, formerly of Kinston, died peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Joy, in Wake Forest, NC. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren, and all that knew her, that title was exemplified with everyone she met.

Judy was born to Joseph Hobert Lamm and Inez Bailey High on July 20, 1937. During High School, she met and fell in love with her husband Lamar. They were happily married for 61 years. Together they raised 3 children, Neil (Susan) Finch of San Diego, CA, Joy (Bruce) Reese of Wake Forest, NC and Craig (Jami) Finch of Deep Run, NC.

Always active throughout her life, Judy was a good athlete, an avid bowler and golfer. She was taught the value of work early in life by helping on the family farm and had been employed since high school as a bank teller, secretary, real estate agent and finally as the owner of Royal Jewelers.

Even in her last few months, she loved talking with friends on the phone. She especially enjoyed her nightly conversations with her sister-in-law, Becky Lamm.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Neil Lamar Finch, Sr., parents Joseph Hobert Lamm and Inez Bailey High, and brothers William Joe Lamm, Carlton Ray Lamm, and sister-in-law, Agnes Bissett Lamm.

She will be missed by her children and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed sharing her love of Jesus Christ through kind acts of service.

The family would like to acknowledge Transitions LifeCare of Wake Forest for the wonderful comprehensive care provided in the last few weeks of Judy’s life.

Those who would like to celebrate Judy’s life are invited to attend her viewing at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Friday evening, September 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC on September 14th at 11:00 am.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Latter-day Saint Charities, Autism Society of NC or Tunnels2Towers
