Greenville man arrested for larceny, elder exploitation in Lenoir County

A Greenville man was arrested Saturday evening by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office after allegedly committing a larceny in Lenoir County.

On Jan. 22, a report was filed with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office for a theft of a large sum of money and other miscellaneous items that were taken from a residence. During an investigation by LCSO detectives, it was found the larceny occurred between Jan. 12-17.

After speaking with the victims and others, Cornelius Tyrone Campbell was identified as a suspect and a warrant for arrest was obtained.

On Feb. 1, Pitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Campbell; after a brief foot chase, he was apprehended. Additional charges were filed by the PCSO for crimes committed during Campbell’s arrest.

For the Lenoir County incident, Campbell was charged with:

• Felony larceny

• Exploitation of a disabled or elder adult through a position of trust or business relationship

Campbell was given a $20,000 secured bond for the Lenoir County charges.
