Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office promotes literacy during Read Across America Week
Last week, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office proudly participated in Read Across America Week by visiting local schools to read to students and promote the importance of literacy. Sheriff Jackie Rogers and deputies spent time in classrooms, engaging with young learners and sharing their favorite books to encourage a lifelong love of reading.
“Reading is the foundation of success, and we want to show our support for education in our community,” Rogers said. “By participating in Read Across America Week, we hope to inspire students to develop a passion for reading and learning.”
Deputies visited schools across Lenoir County, reading classic children’s books and discussing the importance of literacy in their daily work. The event also provided an opportunity for students to interact with law enforcement in a positive and educational setting.
Read Across America Week, celebrated annually in early March, is a nationwide initiative that encourages reading and honors the legacy of Dr. Seuss. The LCSO remains committed to supporting local schools and fostering strong relationships with the community.
As Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
