Greene County Board of Commissioners announce new county attorney
The Greene County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin MacQueen as the new County Attorney, effective April 1, 2025. MacQueen brings nearly four decades of legal experience to this role and will provide valuable legal counsel to the county.
A licensed attorney since 1986, MacQueen brings nearly four decades of legal experience, with a background in criminal and traffic law, DSS and child support matters, personal injury, family law, and bankruptcy law. A longtime legal practitioner in Eastern North Carolina, he has extensive experience handling legal matters.
A native of Wellington, Kansas, MacQueen has strong ties to North Carolina. He is a 1979 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, earned his undergraduate degree from NC State University in 1983, and obtained his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1986. He is married to Lisa Ann Frost MacQueen, a LaGrange native, and has a stepson, James Edward Frost Jr., who works as an academic tutor.
MacQueen succeeds Gay Stanley, who has served as Greene County Attorney since 2020 and will be joining Wayne County Government in a similar capacity. The Greene County Board of Commissioners extends its sincere appreciation to Gay Stanley for her dedication and service to Greene County and wishes her success in her new role.
