The Pirate Pulse Launches as ECU's Newest Independent Sports Media Platform

GREENVILLE – East Carolina University sports fans now have a new home for dynamic, in-depth coverage with the launch of The Pirate Pulse, an independent digital sports media platform dedicated exclusively to ECU athletics.

Led by Chance Scott, an upcoming 2025 graduate of ECU and The Pirate Pulse's Chief Correspondent, and Trey Scott, Writer & Photographer, the platform is backed by Magic Mile Media, the team behind Neuse News Sports. The goal is simple: deliver high-energy, real-time, fan-first coverage of ECU sports across multiple digital platforms.

"The Pirate Pulse will be a one-stop destination for all things East Carolina baseball, basketball, and football," said Trey Scott, VP of Sports Media & Digital Strategy at Magic Mile Media. "The Pulse will provide in-game updates, postgame coverage, and interviews, but that's just the beginning. Expect much more, including recruiting intel, podcasts, fan interactions, and a dedicated media team ready to walk the plank with the Pirates!"

Soft launching during the ECU baseball season, The Pirate Pulse will provide full coverage of the Pirates on the diamond while ramping up for comprehensive football and basketball coverage in the fall.

"There's no shortage of ECU sports coverage, but what's missing is a platform built specifically for the modern fan—one that delivers instant updates, in-depth analysis, and behind-the-scenes access in a way that's fast, engaging, and interactive," said BJ Murphy, a 2002 Business Administration graduate from ECU and CEO of Magic Mile Media. "The Pirate Pulse isn't just reporting on the Pirates; we're living it alongside the fans."

A Platform Built for the Modern ECU Fan

The Pirate Pulse will feature a weekly podcast, in-depth written coverage, real-time game updates, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content across Facebook, YouTube, X, and more social media channels.

"The Pirate Pulse is bringing something fresh to ECU sports coverage," said Chance Scott. "By blending traditional journalism with social media-driven content, we're creating an experience that every fan can connect with and enjoy."

A Fresh Approach to ECU Sports Coverage

Magic Mile Media's expansion into ECU athletics comes at a pivotal time in sports media, where fans are demanding faster, more engaging content tailored to their experience.

"I am super excited to give Pirate Nation great coverage," said Trey Scott. "ECU is an underrated sports program with the most loyal fans in the nation. I am really excited for our team but most importantly Chance Scott. I have full confidence he will give ECU's fan base a reliable, loyal, and credible source to be the go-to guy for all the news related to Pirates sports."

"I'm excited about The Pirate Pulse because it's going to give Pirate Nation another platform that is focused entirely on ECU athletics," Chance Scott added. "This was all started for the love I have for ECU, and that's one thing that will never change."

"At Magic Mile Media, we believe in telling stories that matter to the communities we serve," Murphy said. "The Pirate Pulse is the next step in our commitment to elevating sports media coverage in eastern North Carolina. We're bringing together passionate storytellers and a cutting-edge digital strategy to give ECU fans the content they deserve."
