Lenoir Community College celebrates opening of new cosmetology lab
Lenoir Community College marked an exciting milestone on Friday, April 11, with the official opening of its second cosmetology lab on the college’s main campus in Kinston. Students, faculty, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the continued growth of LCC’s cosmetology program.
The addition of the new lab comes in response to growing enrollment and increased demand for cosmetology courses at LCC. The college offers day, weeknight, and weekend classes to meet a wide range of student needs.
“This lab represents more than just a physical expansion—it’s a symbol of the creativity, talent, and passion that fills our classrooms every day,” said LCC President Dr. Rusty Hunt. “We’re proud to support our students with the tools and training they need to succeed in a growing industry.”
Cosmetology Program Director Miriam Del Toro-Gutierrez shared her excitement about the opportunities the new space will bring. “This space gives our students the chance to learn in a real-world environment that mirrors the professional settings they’ll enter after graduation,” she said. “It’s a beautiful and functional space designed with their future in mind.”
