Visit to Weyerhaeuser
It was a pleasure visiting the Weyerhaeuser facility in Vanceboro to hear about the challenges facing the lumber industry. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I’m committed to improving our tax code and ensuring our trade relationships benefit American businesses.
Visit to Carteret County Beach Commission
It was great to meet with the Carteret County Beach Commission to discuss coastal issues impacting Eastern North Carolina. We are working to act proactively to protect our coastal communities and to ensure they continue to thrive.
Mixing water, wind, sand, and the tides can create residential and navigational challenges. We must continue to do a great balancing act between protecting the environment, but also allowing individuals to enjoy the great resources that Eastern NC offers.
Visit to Carteret Health Care
Thank you to Carteret Health Care, which continues to a viable, independent hospital, for having me today to discuss the impact of other nearby facilities closing, like Martin General Hospital, or scaling back services.
As a physician for over 30 years, I’ve seen the field of health care evolve and have made improving access to services in rural communities one of my top priorities in Congress.
Visit to Newport/Morehead City National Weather Service Station
My team and I had a powerful visit to the Newport/Morehead City National Weather Service station to learn about the facility and hear about the impactful work they do. Working around the clock, they keep us informed about ever changing weather that affects all of our lives.
In Eastern North Carolina, we understand how intense weather systems, such as Hurricane Idalia, in the Atlantic are. It’s critical that we are able to accurately forecast weather patterns to protect our community and save lives. We are honored to be ambassadors with them to help keeping folks educated about threatening weather events.
Visit to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base
I visited Seymour Johnson Air Force Base for an update on its operations and upcoming projects, and was pleased to learn the Air Force’s plan is to train all F-15 pilots at SJAFB. I’m grateful for the service of the airmen and women and their efforts to keep us safe.
Visit to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune
NC is well known to be a military friendly state and the 3rd District understands how vital it is to back our troops. It was an honor to meet with our Marines and those who support them. With a very high threat level in the world today, we must support those who keep us free.
During my visit to Camp Lejeune and I toured the Camp Lejeune High School to learn about the latest initiatives on base. The fine folks stationed here are some of the most dedicated public servants the United States has, and I am honored to support them!
