Greene County deputies arrest Maury man for Murder
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office posted the following on Facebook:
On Friday 08-25-2023, Greene County Deputies arrested 50 year old Christopher Warren Braxton of Maury for Murder.
Around 6:00 pm on 08-25-2023, Deputies responded to a residence on Moore Rouse Rd in reference to a welfare check on 81-year-old Peggy Braxton. A relative of Ms. Braxton called in the welfare check concerned after having not made contact with her for several days. Upon arrival Deputies spoke with her son, Christopher Braxton, who said she was not home, and refused to let Deputies inside to check for his mother. Deputies were finally able to enter the home and located Ms. Braxton who was deceased from unnatural causes. Deputies detained Braxton and later charged him with an open count of murder. The SBI was contacted to assist with the crime scene. The investigation is ongoing, as the exact cause of death is unknown at this time, Investigators are awaiting her autopsy results. Braxton is currently in the Greene County Detention Center under no bond.
