Kinston Police arrest driver for DWI and Hit & Run

On March 9, 2025, at approximately 4:36 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly on North Herritage Street. Before officers arrived, they were informed that one of the drivers had left the scene.

Officers located the vehicle in the area of North Queen Street and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Stephen Durling (46 of Kinston), showed signs of impairment, prompting a DWI investigation. As a result, Durling was arrested and charged with:

Driving While Impaired (DWI)

Hit and Run

Durling was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was booked under a secured bond.
