Lenoir County Emergency Services paramedic shot while attending a call

Just before 6 p.m. today, a Lenoir County Emergency Services paramedic was shot while attending to a call.

The paramedic was responding to a call on Marilyn Drive and was attempting to get a patient into an ambulance when a vehicle slammed into the front of the ambulance. A suspect emerged from the vehicle and started firing a weapon and the paramedic was struck.

The paramedic was transported to ECU Health Center where they are in stable condition.

The Kinston Police Department is investigating the case.
