After falling behind early, the Down East Wood Ducks couldn’t overcome the early deficit and fell to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, 5-1 Tuesday night. The Wood Ducks struggled with runners in scoring position, going one-for-five. Jayce Easley went two-for-two with two stolen bases, earning the Suddenlink Player of the Game.
For the second night in-a-row, the Down East Wood Ducks won a pitchers’ duel against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 2-1. Down East has won their last five games, which marks the second longest winning streak for the Woodies since the first week of the season when they swept Kannapolis and won the first two games against Carolina for an eight-game winning streak.
Thanks to a three-run sixth inning, the Down East Wood Ducks defeated the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 6-3, Wednesday night. After collecting only four hits last night, the bats woke up as Down East totaled 14 hits with six hitters notching a multi-hit game.
For the second time at home, the Down East Wood Ducks got a walkoff win thanks to some timely hitting. This win puts the Woodies back in the win column, after losing back-to-back games to start the series with Fredericksburg. The Wood Ducks and Nationals continue their series tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Down East will send RH Tekoah Roby (0-2, 4.50) to matchup against Fredericksburg LH Alfonso Hernandez (0-0, 3.12)
After a four-run top of the fifth, the Down East Wood Ducks (10-4) evened the series against the Charleston RiverDogs (8-6) with a 6-5 win, Wednesday night. The Wood Ducks put themselves back in the win column after losing four of their last five games entering tonight.
Seniors aged 60 and better are invited to celebrate National Older Americans Month at Grainger Stadium on Friday, May 7, 2021.
