The change is scheduled to be made Wednesday where Tower Hill Road/ Washington Avenue intersect with JP Harrison Boulevard/ Secrest Street. Currently, traffic on JP Harrison Boulevard/ Secrest Street doesn’t stop.

A section of N.C. 148 in Lenoir County is scheduled to be closed next week as construction to extend C.F. Harvey Parkway continues. N.C. 148 (C.F. Harvey Parkway) just east of Aerosystems Boulevard to the N.C. 58 intersection will be closed in both directions between 7 a.m. Sept. 28 and 7 a.m. Oct. 5. The closure will allow contractors to construct the new alignment tie-ins. Drivers needing to access the other side of construction will use Airport Road, Academy Heights Road and N.C. 58.
On Sept. 4, Governor Cooper signed Coronavirus Relief Act 3.0. Among its provisions is a new extension of the expiration dates of five DMV credentials. If they have already expired or are about to, their new expiration dates are now 30 days after the governor lifts his state of emergency order related to the COVID Pandemic.

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is resuming motorcycle road skills tests beginning Tuesday, July 28, at 70 of the state’s 78 current operational driver license offices.
Gov. Roy Cooper signed House Bill 158 into law on Friday, June 19. The bill allows the North Carolina DMV to temporarily waive the road test requirement for a Level 2 limited provisional license. Elliana Sylvia, who lives in Kinston and started a petition in April to temporarily waive the road test requirement, got her Level 2 license on Monday, June 22.
Governor Roy Cooper has waived restrictions to increase access to caregivers to provide flexible child care and elder care during the coronavirus emergency. The Order provides flexibility to local health departments working to adapt to the increased need for their resources.
Additionally, it provides for ways for Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices to enact social distancing protections, and waives some registration requirements to ensure resources can be delivered by truck throughout the state.
