On Independence Day, 23 new U.S. citizens were sworn in at a naturalization ceremony held at Harmony Hall. The event was organized by the Lenoir County Historical Association and presided over by The Honorable James C. Dever III, a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Every summer, my favorite day of the year comes around, the Fourth of July. It is a day filled with my favorite things to celebrate our nation’s independence. Many of us go to the beach, watch fireworks, spend time with friends and family, laugh at “put it in reverse Terry” memes, and so much more! These colonies had no army – just militias composed of citizen-soldiers. They were facing one of the world’s best-trained and most professional armies.

The Town of Maysville, with the support of the Maysville Development Corporation, and donations made by residents of our town will host our annual Fourth of July at Frost Park on Saturday, July 4th.
