On Monday, NC Senator Jim Perry (R-Lenoir, Wayne) introduced Senate Bill 767 to allow the recall of the Lenoir County Board of Education members. Prior to the introduction of the bill, Perry sent communication of his intent to the Lenoir County School Board and the Lenoir County Commissioners.
“What I'm not going to do is ignore the parents of our community when a significant number of them have reached out and expressed concern about their feelings of when their thoughts and concerns were dismissed and they had no system to address their grievances,” said Perry. “They felt ignored like they were not heard.”
According to multiple sources, former NC House Representative and Lenoir County Chairman George Graham has passed away. Graham was born on February 16, 1949. He was 73. Graham served as a member of the NC House from 2013 through 2018 and served the citizens of Lenoir County for over 30 years on the board of commissioners.
In the last meeting for February, the Lenoir County Commissioners approved a Begging and Solicitation Ordinance for Lenoir County.

Today, the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed three resolutions that will lead to an Italian company creating 110 new jobs and investing $28 million in the county.
Lenoir County Manager Michael James released the fiscal year 2021-2022 recommended operating and capital budget for Lenoir County. The County Commissioners voted unanimously at the last meeting to approve the proposed budget. The next fiscal year’s budget maintains the existing tax rate of $0.845 per $100 of valuation.
