On Wednesday August 24, 2022, staff of the NC Cooperative Extension, Lenoir County Center, and Lenoir County Master Gardeners, along with members and volunteers of the U.S. Forest Service hosted an ornament making workshop for the U.S Capital Christmas Tree at the Cooperative Extension Building. The workshop was open to anyone who wished to contribute their talent to the project.
It’s a season of growth for Kinston teenager Killen Harper as she celebrates six months of her unique non-profit organization, Carolina Greens. Since January 2021, Killen has turned her family’s backyard on Stockton Rd. into a compact, productive garden growing vegetables she donates to Mary’s Kitchen and Greenville’s JOY Soup Kitchen.
Annual grant awards from the Lenoir County Extension Master Gardeners Volunteer Association to inspire projects related to horticulture have gone to seven teachers in Lenoir County.
