Javiar will enter the College of Education with aspirations of becoming an elementary school teacher. “I’ve always wanted to impact the lives of others,” he said. “It’s best to make that impact at a young age. I’m a firm believer in the Scripture, ‘Train up a child the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.’ If you teach them while they’re young, your hope is that they grow up and will never forget that teaching.”
On behalf of the Adkin High School Alumni and Friends, Inc. Board of Directors, we would like to thank Mike Parker for “The article that sparked the Adkin Walkout of 1951.” It was accurate and timely as we look forward to next year’s celebration of 70 years since this historic civil rights moment occurred in Kinston. This happened before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, before the NC A&T sit-ins and before the March on Washington.
A group of about 40 young women from Lenoir County will attend Friday’s annual Women in Science and Technology event at N.C. A&T University.
Lenoir Community College students can transfer their first two years from LCC to complete a four-year degree at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
