RALEIGH — Plans to complete the eCourts expansion to trial courts across all 100 counties in 2025 and the North Carolina Business Court were announced today by the Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC).
Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 98 of North Carolina’s counties in June 2024 and remained unchanged in two. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 7.0 percent while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.2 percent.
Millions of low- and middle- income North Carolinians are one step closer to medical debt relief. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved on Friday, July 26 Governor Roy Cooper and the NC Department of Health and Human Services’ plan to use the state's Medicaid program to incentivize hospitals to relieve more than a decade of existing medical debt for eligible North Carolinians and prevent accumulation of new debt going forward.
RALEIGH – The North Carolina Turnpike Authority was alerted that a text message-based scam, also known as smishing, is fraudulently claiming to represent tolling agencies from across the country. The scammers are claiming to represent the tolling agency and requesting payment for unpaid tolls.
RALEIGH – Now is the time to save money and get a jump on planning your trip to the 2024 N.C. State Fair, happening Oct. 17-27 in Raleigh. Advance tickets can be purchased online now until Oct. 17. Tickets can also be purchased at the Dorton Arena kiosk on weekends, and walk-up tickets will be available Oct. 3-17.
The state’s seasonally adjusted June 2024 unemployment rate was 3.6 percent, unchanged from May’s revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 4.1 percent.

The state’s seasonally adjusted April 2024 unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, unchanged from March’s revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 3.9 percent
Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in 44 of North Carolina’s counties in March 2024, increased in 22, and remained unchanged in 34. Hyde County had the highest unemployment rate at 7.6 percent while Greene County had the lowest at 2.8 percent. Six of the state’s metro areas experienced rate increases, four decreased, and five remained unchanged.
RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans this spring to provide thousands of bike helmets to children across the state to reduce serious injuries and save lives.
