The Kinston Housing Authority (KHA) is demolishing 80 of the 224 units, or ten buildings at Simon Bright Apartments. The Corbett group out of Goldsboro is doing the demolition.

Gloria Jean Pierce Beaman Phillips peacefully and quietly departed this life on December 28, 2022. A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation in the hour before the service.
